Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats
It's National Peanut Butter Day!
And, what better way to celebrate than to bake up some quick and easy peanut butter treats for your pooch.
These treats are incredibly easy to make with ingredients that are most likely already in your kitchen! You can cut them into fun shapes with various cookie cutters if you wanted.
You can also alter the baking time just a bit depending on if your pup likes crunchier treats.
2/3 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup peanut butter
2 large eggs
3 cups whole wheat flour
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set aside.
2. Beat the pumpkin puree, peanut butter and eggs until well-combined. If using an electric mixer, this should take about 1-2 minutes. Then slowly add the flour at a low speed until the dough is no longer sticky.
3. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough several times until it comes together. Then, using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out into your desired shape, and place onto prepped baking sheet.
4. Place into oven and bake until the edges are golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Baking time will vary depending on the size and thickness of the treats. Serving size will also vary depending on the desired shapes and cookie cutters used.
5. Let cool completely.
